The Westy Reimagined: A Modern Camper Build
Transforming a classic VW Westfalia into a modern, off-grid adventure mobile.
The VW Westfalia is an icon, but its 80s-era interior needed a 21st-century upgrade. This project is a full-gut restoration and modernization. The goal was to retain the classic charm while integrating modern amenities for comfortable, long-term travel. We installed a full solar and lithium battery system for off-grid power, a modern kitchenette with an induction cooktop, and a custom-built interior that maximizes storage and living space. This is a journey through woodworking, electrical engineering, and interior design, all within the compact confines of a classic van.
